Succeeding in the New World of Business

_DOLORES "DEE" MCCROREY is the innovation catalyst and Chief Risk Guru of Risktaking for Success, a consulting and training business launched after a 25-year career managing complex supply chains and leading global teams in software development and business re-engineering initiatives. Her entrepreneurial efforts resulted in millions of dollars of savings and the creation of new revenue streams for Fortune 500 companies. Combined with a passion for leading high potential, high risk programs, Ms. McCrorey earned a reputation as a turnaround expert, garnering a personal brand of someone who would ‘Fix, eliminate or reinvent it’.

A desire for greater influence in helping corporate leaders navigate and rebuild their organizations from fear-based workplaces to entrepreneurial environments motivated Dee to branch out on her own in 1997. The ensuing decade of Silicon Valley’s dotcom bust, the aftermath of 9/11, and the nation’s Great Recession validated the existence of a new reality and the necessity for innovating in a reinvented world.

Inflection Point

An inflection point moment occurred for her in 1996, when Dr. Andrew Grove, Chief Executive of Intel Corporation at the time, published his book Only the Paranoid Survive, about managing the complexity of business and the strategic inflection point. About the same time, Dee was mentoring and training a small group of engineers on how to "see around corners", a process that would eventually become her Personal Inflection Curve model for professionals reinventing their careers in front of the curve.

But it would be another decade—and a Great Recession—before she would connect the dots between the two intersecting points. Her trigger was the negative hype portrayed in the media of U.S. companies no longer innovating, which motivated her to share a different reality—stories of businesses and individuals successfully navigating the rough economic waters.

Innovation in a Reinvented World is the culmination of more than 25 years of practical experience—Dee's successes and setbacks, some great mentors along the way, and expertise that came from a willingness to roll up her sleeves, dig deep, and get the job done.

Fortunately, she's not alone.
